museum visit

I chose to go to the De Young museum. I had a good time at the museum looking at all the artwork from different periods in time. I especially liked all the glass work at the museum. Some of the pieces were so colorful and amazing to look at. I remember seeing one piece and it was a bunch of fruits made of glass in this bowl and they looked so good and realistic I wanted to pick one up and eat it. I have always liked seeing art made out of glass and I think the art of glass blowing is really cool. I think it would be awesome to learn how to do that. I always like going to museums and looking at things from the past, it kind of gives you a feel for how things were back then or at least what the time period valued.

  1. I S2 glass art. I haven't seen it in person, but the Monetary Bay Aquarium has or at least had art displays of glass art of jellyfishes! & sea creature influences. I got a brochere in the mail & it was soo beautiful..very striking.
It also reminds me of the film w/ Matthew Perry in it called Three to Tango (i think) where the girl (famous actress from 90's) had a job of blowing glass. I would love to go to the DeYOung but it's too far -dad's driving :(...& it's not for free..lol
soo i'm going to the Cantor even though i've been there b4
it would be awesome to learn how to do that

  2. Dear Aditi,

I too love glass and hope to learn how to do it sometime. I heard that there is some place in the bay area that you can go to learn. But Im not sure yet where that is. I did see that there is a glass museum and educational center in southern Washington State (north of Portland about 2 hours). I hope to visit there some time this summer. You can register for a 3 hour course where they teach you how to blow glass. It sounds amazing!
I have really enjoyed being in class with you this semester and hope to see you in future classes !

    Have a great summer,
    Kimberlie
